DEVOTION: "It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools."(Ecclesastias 7:5)

"It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools."(Ecclesastias 7:5)

"It is Better"  One of my favorite quotes is, "Show me your friends and I'll show you your future"! It is better to have wise friends to help guide you through life than to have friends that don't have a clue what they need much less what you need to do. Jesus called this type of lifestyle, "Blind leaders of the Blind", (better to have friends hurt your feelings with truth than to just console our ignorance.  ) "Reprove not a scorner,  lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee."(Proverbs 9:8) If you never listen to a wise person because they don't tell you what you want to hear, you have a problem.  " Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser:  teach a just man, and he will increase in learning."(Proverbs 9:9) Foolish friends will tell you whatever you want to hear instead of what you need to hear.     "Open rebuke is better than secret love."(Proverbs 27:5).   It is better to hear and know the truth than to be completely blind to what is really going on your life. If your life is not working, find someone it's working for and ask for some advice.  I know if you're a human being you may be jealous of their success in an area that you are failing in but your intimidation by them is going to rob you of your blessing from them.  Make sure they are not conceited in their success but humble enough to share the secret of their blessing. Most people dream about being successful but are not willing to do what it takes to bring about what they need.  Obviously you're going to have make some changes which will require humility on your part. The verse for today says "it is better to hear", so stop crying over your failure, listen to the wise and change your life!!    "He that walketh with wise men shall be wise:  but a companion of fools shall be destroyed."(Proverbs 13:20). Maybe you're hanging out with the wrong people, find a good church with a Preacher that preaches the word, get involved, listen and learn. There are 168 hours in a week, it only takes a few hours to attend a Wednesday night service, Sunday School and a Worship and Word Service each week to get biblical input into your life. In this new environment you will meet people that can assist you in being wise where you have been foolish. It will take some effort on your part but it will be worth it. Learn to listen to the right people!
