"At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungered, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day."(Matthew 12:1-2)

"At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungered, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day."(Matthew 12:1-2) "Jesus Went" If you read the Gospels you will see that Jesus was always on the move, making something happen for the Kingdom of God!! In this passage, Jesus picked and ate corn on the wrong day, "wrong" being defined by the Religious Bureau of Investigation as wrong. His answer, when questioned was in verse 3, "Have ye not read?" It would do the church at large a whole lot of good to just simply read the Bible and take it at face value. Jesus Christ was the virgin born Son of God, died on a cross, arose from the grave and is coming again!! In the Gospels you will find that the opinions of the general public about Christ were plentiful. None the less, Jesus walked to the beat of His own drum, totally unaffected by what the establishment thought but righteous all at the same time. Yes, Jesus was cool on so many levels, in one passage He adheres strictly to the religious code and yet in another passage He appears to be a backpacker rambling from town to town. Some thought He was a Devil, some fell at His feet to worship Him. He shook the foundations of every known establishment and the thought processes of all mankind. He was unique in every way and very diverse in His dealings with mankind yet accomplishing the same goal in every person He touched. He honored Caesar by paying His taxes but called the church folk, snakes and vipers!! Just about the time they thought they had Him figured out, He would do something that would just mess all their figures up. He flowed with the "Wind" of the Spirit, seeming very unstructured yet fulfilling many Old Testament prophesies to perfection!! Yes, you can be free and righteous all at the same time but you'll have to develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit. Before you start planning your "Spiritual Manifestation" for church on Sunday in order to show everyone how spiritual you are, please realize that the Holy Spirit is not synonymous with obnoxious or weird. Being Spiritual is not being "better" but being like "Christ". If you would like to be spiritual, I would suggest a good reading of the Gospels and emulating Christ. I know, on occasion, He made mud pies out of spit and dirt, put it in a blind man's eyes, I wouldn't suggest that one for beginners but I'm sure you can find something that will work for you. The only reason I can find that we are not spiritual is that we church folk prefer the bondage of our religious rules than the freedom of truth!! Read the Bible, it will set you free! Pastor Scott L.
